1970 – 1999

The early years: during this time, L.A. Jackson absorbed the experiences of being intellectually gifted, and contributing to books by mentor and 5th grade teacher, Bernard Percy. After graduating from high school, L.A. followed Bernard Percy to Los Angeles and discovered his path after a friend gave him a synthesizer. Jackson went on to change his major from computer technology to music, then began working in a local record store. Transferring from Los Angeles City College to Georgia State University in 1982, L.A. began an internship with a global record company, CBS Records.

During his 10 years with the record company, CBS Records became Sony Music and Jackson promoted records on Columbia, Epic, Def Jam and others. As the Internet presented file sharing, the record industry began to capsize; as a result, Sony Music and other labels began downsizing. At this point, L.A. opened his own recording studio and began doing audiovisual technology. Before long, L.A. Jackson had executive produced the Atlanta Artists Against Gun Violence CD for the Million Mom March Foundation, and was managing Baba Oje, spiritual advisor for the Grammy winning group, Arrested Development. L.A. secured an international GAP commercial and began producing a solo album for Baba Oje.

For the new millennium, L.A. Jackson formed MKM MULTIMEDIA WORKS, and jumped into the literary world to create the MUSICOLOGY SERIES. Along with partner Wade Jones, a new record label was formed, Atlanta’s PEACH CITY RECORDS. With his new book MUSICOLOGY 2101: A QUICK START GUIDE TO MUSIC “BIZ” HISTORY and its accompanying EXPOSER 3 CD release, L.A. Jackson is poised to reap the fruits of his labor in 2013.
